Reporting to the Director of Student Services, the Academic Advisor provides academic advising to College of Business Administration students and high-level support to the Student Services Department.
- Advises students, evaluates retention data and monitors progress toward degree completion.
- Coordinates activities for graduation, induction, recruitment and retention, as assigned.
- Manages Student Services forms and processes and communicates with faculty about changes.
- Serves as the initial point of contact for inquiries and referrals and escalates inquiries/problems as needed to the appropriate person.
- Does research and prepares statistical reports as assigned.
Bachelor's degree and professional experience in a higher education environment.
Knowledge of student development theory and familiarity with the college's degree programs/requirements. Must be flexible and good with detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively on a variety of projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines; establish and maintain effecting working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the general public. Effective interpersonal, analytical, conflict resolution, problem-solving, decision-making and team-building skills. Sufficient technical ability to master the software required to perform job duties at a high level.Work toward a Master's degree. Proficiency with higher education recordkeeping software (Banner or similar) and with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
