Job Summary:
The Academic Advisor will assist in the academic advisement, registration, and monitoring of the progression of students in the Doctor of Pharmacy Program as well as assist in the general activities of the Office of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
Essential Functions:
Serve primarily as a developmental advisor for students in years 2-6 of the Doctor of Pharmacy program.
Assist college personnel in the assessment and referral of high-risk students in the College’s degree programs.
Serve as a liaison to other units and support services throughout the University.
Maintain appropriate student records and other needed information and documentation by utilizing Banner, Electronic File Cabinet (EFC), and other appropriate software.
Effectively manage programmatic databases to track all students advised in a longitudinal fashion.
Monitor the progression of assigned students and, when necessary, establish academic success/progression plans, particularly for those students with academic and nonacademic difficulty.
Provide academic counseling for program changes and scheduling of students.
Assist in recruitment efforts of the College.
In conjunction with the Pharm.D. Admissions Committee, review and evaluate all potential transfer students and submit all pertinent documents to the Committee chair. Assist with scheduling student interviews for students accepted into the program, prepare an academic course of study for the Pharm. D. Program for each student, and advise them each semester.
Complete reports and student evaluations as required by internal and external constituents including accreditation organizations.
Assist/participate in student-oriented events and services sponsored by the College and/or University, including activities that occur outside regular office hours.
Represent the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences on select University/College Committees.
Participate in any special projects or duties assigned by the Dean or his/her designee.
Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
On campus full-time position interacting with students and other internal and external constituents. Some remote interactions from campus office with students. The ability to use communication platforms (Webex, Zoom, Teams) is essential.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Full-time Monday-Thursday 8:30 – 4:30 PM and Friday 8:30 – 3:00 PM. Coverage for events after hours for programmatic and College events occasionally in the evening or on weekends (Open houses, convocations, recruitment)
Required Education and Experience:
Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Student Advisement, or Psychology
Experience - Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in higher education
Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills
Has the ability to work well with others at various levels
Preferred Education and Experience:
Graduate or professional degree preferred
Experience working directly with healthcare students
Knowledge of Banner and Electronic File Cabinet
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary range for this position is $62,400-$66,300.
