2nd Shift Production Supervisor
Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position will lead extrusion and converting operations which includes but is not limited to machines, processes and direct labor workforce.
Responsibilities of the Production Supervisor include but are not limited to:
- Implement daily production tasks, communicating accurately the context of the collective bargaining agreement and the policy book frameworks.
- Active engagement in the safety program, contributing to education and reinforcement of safe work practices, and identification of
- Staff the plant daily according to a production priority list, including scheduling overtime as needed
- Make decisions on troubleshooting and quality specifications on all products and all jobs within the value streams within the production environment
- Interpret machine tooling requirements and create maintenance work orders in the ERP system for machine setup, using knowledge of maintenance staffing and procedures.
- Make decisions independently using sound problem solving and/ or analytical skills
- Create standard work practices for all operations to balance the workload across the crew in collaboration with the work force.
- Facilitate training and cross training, including identifying needs for training, designating the trainer, and working through frequent training assessments through successful sign-off
- Audit standard works to see if we are achieving our targets
- Understand ERP systems including understand BOM's, production schedule, ensuring accuracy and closing production work orders
- Drive lean manufacturing throughout the production facility, including supporting and executing on the continuous improvement idea program and coaching and facilitating
- Continuous Improvement / Kata Improvement projects
- Ensure accuracy of overall equipment effectiveness and work towards improvement targets
- Develop a Visual Workplace that is self-managing and self-evident
- Manage the union workforce including employee reward and recognition, as well as through the progressive disciplinary process when necessary
- The Production Supervisor may be expected to work overtime on the weekend.
- Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements (minimum acceptable and/or preferred):
Education: BA/BS degree preferred
Experience:
- 3+ Years of experience
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organizations
- Must be able to adapt to organizational growth/ change
- Detail oriented with strong analytical skills
- Change Management Experience
Preferred/Bonus:
- Experience working in a manufacturing facility
- Demonstrated experience directing the work of others
- Previous working experience with a union
- Lean Experience
- Previous experience directing the work of others preferred
- Experience with change management
Specific Skills:
- Basic computer skills; navigate between files on a desktop, create, open, and save files in Microsoft applications.
- Excel: data entry skills, sorting and filtering information in tables, navigating tabs within spreadsheets
- Comfort with email and electronic calendar systems such as Outlook.
- Have outstanding oral and written communication skills
- Have good mechanical aptitude
