REPORTS TO: School Nutrition Supervisor and Director of Schools
Job Goal: To contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of the central office Student Nutrition Office.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This position is Part Time-120 days. It will be 2 to 3 days a week for 8 hours a day over 12 months.
The start of school is an extremely busy time. Large amounts of Free/Reduced Applications are coming in daily. Other school needs are occurring. Vacations and Elective Surgeries cannot be scheduled during the first month of school opening. If there is a medical emergency or a situation that requires your absence, please communicate this with the Nutrition Supervisor for approval. Vacations and Elective Surgeries should be scheduled when students are out of school for Fall Breaks, Spring Breaks or in the summer months when duties are more flexible unless approved by the Nutrition Supervisor. If an unusual circumstance or opportunity arises to request time off, please notify the Supervisor for approval. We must consider that anyone could have a medical emergency at any time and need to be able to help at any school in a moments notice.

Job Description
Title: Part-time Student Nutrition Bookkeeper - 120 Days

- High School diploma or GED
- Computer knowledge required
- Bookkeeping knowledge and experience required

Job Goal: To contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of the central office Student Nutrition Office.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Preform all tasks on "Horizon", our cafeteria POS software
- Assists with other CO Nutrition functions as needed
- Compiles all information needed for filing the state and federal claim for reimbursement and financial statements for all twelve schools to include data entry of physical food and non-food inventory, assist the county finance with accounts receivable, daily cash records, assists county finance with monthly and year end reports
- Maintains a weekly cash balance system with the Trustee, which includes balancing deposits and reports with all 12 managers before taking deposit slips to the Trustee. Maintains all files supporting the bookkeeping portion of the Student Nutrition Department while working with County Finance to balance with the Trustee.
- Assists County Finance in compiling all information for annual audit
- Submits local, state and federal reports to proper agencies, State Nutrition Department, County Finance Director, and trustee
- Conducts State Department system up-dates for each school at beginning of each school year
- Conducts periodic labor studies to set number of employee hours for each school cafeteria
- Assists with reviewing all employment applications, checks background results when needed.
- Maintains a complete file on all employees which includes obtaining all documents required prior to sending in employment recommendations
- Maintains the substitute cafeteria employee list
- Creates average daily participation reports, cost analysis reports
- Works with managers in coordinating labor and food for banquets and creates billing to be charged for banquets
- Responsible for assisting the Nutrition Supervisor in developing a budget, which includes revenues and expenditures, requesting amendments through county finance and all back-up reports necessary for development of budget
- Assist coordinating the Horizon Point of Sale system and all reporting in the sale of school meals
- Participates in local, state, and federal in-service seminars and workshop training
- Assists in scanning and approving Free/Reduced Meal Applications if needed
- Performs any other duties that may be assigned by the Student Nutrition Supervisor and/or the Director of Schools
- Follows all rules and regulations required by the state departments Student Nutrition Department.
- Oversees other assigned bookkeeping job duties of Central Office Staff.
