Position Summary: Responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks. Responsible for appointment scheduling, referral processing, and chart management. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinic services. Provides administrative coverage for the patient service functions related to the check-out operations of the physician practice.

Responsibilities
- Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include but not limited to, accompanying patients to exam/procedure room; preparing patient for exam; performing basic triage procedures including accurate vitals; collecting patient history; assisting physician with various procedures such as phlebotomy, injections, suturing, and other typical office procedures..
- Retrieves initial basic condition of patients, records vital signs and weight, then reports to appropriate practitioner.
- Schedules all outside patient appointments per physician order and relays accurately to patients.
- Communicates effectively with patients/public, co-workers, physicians and or their offices.
- Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families during their visit.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to patient's comfort and privacy.
- Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records. Maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc.
- Responsible for scheduling patient appointments for return visits.
- Performs referrals and pre-certifications as needed.
- Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and well maintained equipment.
Qualifications
Minimum Education: None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
Minimum Experience: One (1) year experience in medical office setting and with International Classification of Diseases (ICD) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding required. Minimum (1) year experience in medical office setting with working knowledge of clinic appointment scheduling and collection required. Must have excellent communication skills. Experience in ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding required.
Licensure Requirement: Must have and maintain a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) license.
