POSITION SUMMARY:
Youth Sports Instructors will run the facility's Youth Sports programs, including, but not limited to: Leagues, Developmental Classes (ages 3-10), After-School/Home School programs, Clinics, Camps, Private/Semi-private Training sessions, and Birthday Parties. **The majority of our Summer programming is geared toward athletes ages 3-10**
Coaching at Iron Peak requires a demonstrated ability to motivate and direct young players. The ideal candidate will have formal experience coaching youth players and be familiar with contemporary coaching methodology. Applicants should be able to construct, articulate, and execute proper sessions and deliver curriculum in line with organizational philosophy. NOTE: Candidates must not currently be employed with competing venue or partner organization.
PRIMAR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Teaching relevant skills, tactics, and techniques (sometimes through fun and imaginative games to very young/beginner athletes).
- Monitoring, evaluating, and enhancing athlete performance and needs
- Providing suitable feedback via positivity, encouragement, example, and motivation
- Demonstrating an activity by breaking down the task or technique into a sequence
- Communicating instructions using clear, simple language
- Must enjoy interacting with a wide age range of athletes and be able to teach to an individual and group
- Friendly and courteous with athletes, parents, and Apex team members
- Identifying athlete strengths and areas for development
- Neat in appearance and professional in manner and communication
- Inspiring confidence and self-belief
- Ensuring a safe environment for all athletes
- Implementing the curriculum in an accurate, creative, positive, and efficient fashion
- Adaptation of curriculum and activities to different learning styles
- Ability to engage beginner players with your fun, encouraging, dynamic, and magnetic personality.
DESIRED/REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- At least 2 years of officiating experience (at any level)
- Licenses/Certifications a plus
- Must have excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and communication skills
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, predominately evenings, and arrive ahead of game time
- Must possess current CPR/FIRST AID certifications, or willingness to obtain within a specified period of time
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to move or lift lightweight equipment (goals into place, etc.)
- Position requires standing and activity for extended periods of time (in sometimes inclement weather), squatting, stooping, jogging, sprinting, or bending into awkward positions while performing job functions
