Founded in 1876, The Boys’ Club of New York (BCNY) is a youth development organization with the mission to empower boys and young men, ages 7 to 21, by providing effective programs and a supportive community. BCNY provides evidence-based programs to address the evolving social, emotional, health, creative, educational, and vocational needs of our members in meaningful, lasting ways. BCNY develops programs to cultivate positive qualities in members and strives to continually deepen and broaden our impact. BCNY will be expanding to provide programming in school buildings. Job Summary
We are a COVID-19 proactive organization that follows applicable health and safety regulations to help protect our members and staff. A Youth Specialist in the BCNY expansion program delivers engaging age-appropriate educational, recreational, and social programs to young men of the school community. The Youth Specialist will oversee and become familiar with the population of members and develop an afterschool experience that is meaningful alongside the program director and project coaches.
Job Requirements

Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the after-school programming of a group of middle school boys.
- Deliver engaging age-appropriate curriculum, activities, and games for participants.
- Provide guidance, encouragement, intervention, and restorative practices
- Coordinate a range of movement based indoor and outdoor activities
- Support program goals by providing feedback of strengths and areas of improvement as they arise.
- Serve as a liaison between the school and members to advocate for needs to program
director.
- Complete member documentation to effectively track member participation
- Assist with daily operational tasks including set-up, transitions, and clean up
- Use restorative strategies to encourage positive behavior and communication
- Attend mandatory professional development trainings
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Associates’ or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Previous experience in youth development, education, or afterschool
- Strong communication skills
- Experience managing multiple priorities
- Well organized, able to work both independently and collaboratively
- First Aid and CPR certification desirable
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) desirable
