The Beaufort Hyde Martin Regional Library system is seeking a creative, self-motivated Youth Services Library Associate to manage our collections for children and teens, administer the Summer Reading Program, and facilitate and implement programming and outreach throughout the three county area and at the Main Library in Washington. BHM is the oldest regional library system in the state and includes eight branches in Eastern North Carolina. Our Library Headquarters is located in Washington, a waterfront town about 30 minutes from Greenville.
Salary: $12.00
This is a part-time, 15 hours per week position.
Qualifications:
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree and experience working with children in an education or library setting.
Required: High School Diploma and experience working with children in an education or library setting.
Duties
The Youth Services Library Associate provides collection development services including ordering and vendor relations for libraries throughout the BHM Regional Library System. The position is based at the Library Headquarters in Washington but some travel to other libraries in the regional system during work hours may be required on occasion. The Youth Services Library Associate I develops, administers, and schedules the annual Summer Reading program for the eight libraries throughout the system. The Associate will also communicate with local daycares in the Washington area to provide library programming at the Main Branch. The Youth Services Library Associate I will also assemble and maintain nursery kits for distribution to daycares throughout our three county service area.
