Position Summary
Responsible for designing, coordinating and overseeing a comprehensive youth Student Ministry program for children in Junior High (grades 7-8) and High School (grades 9-12). The Student Ministry Director will be instrumental in cultivating a culture within the youth ministry that aligns with our mission, vision, and core values, fostering a sense of being FAITHFUL by encouraging consistent prayer, devotion to truth, and unwavering adherence to the teachings of the Bible. This role aims to create a FRUITFUL environment where the youth demonstrate the fruits of the Spirit and contribute to the multiplication of followers of Jesus, striving to equip them with a comprehensive understanding of scriptures and supporting their thriving in every area of life, all while maintaining a FAMILY ORIENTED atmosphere reflective of the close-knit bonds found within a healthy Christian family. Additionally, the director will infuse a sense of FUN, joy, and laughter into the youth ministry, embodying the joyous culture that characterizes North Garland Baptist Fellowship.
Position Responsibilities
Program Development:
- Develop, grow, and maintain a comprehensive student ministry program that includes discipleship and evangelistic programs for students at the Junior High (grades 7-8) thru High School (grades 9-12) levels. Key programs include:
- Coordinating any training or lessons with the Christian Education Director
- “Remnant Youth” Program – This program occurs throughout the school year and provides Bible Study, evangelism and discipleship solutions for the Youth.
- Enrichment activities, camps, and retreats for the youth organization.
- Ensure parent involvement (where applicable) with Youth programs to support their participation in development and learning of their children and involvement and participation in the church.
- Serve as youth advocate educating and enlightening the congregation about the hopes, concerns and needs of the youth in NGBF and the community.
Operations:
- Implementation of all Youth Ministry programs to include preparation, communication and management of the programs (Christian Ed classes, “Remnant Youth”, Summer camps and others).
- Recruit and train volunteers to work in all aspects of youth ministry. Provide oversight and direct supervision to volunteer youth leaders, youth ministry leaders and other staff and volunteers.
- Manage and compile the youth ministry budget and provide timely reporting and responsible expenditure of budget funds.
- Maintain accurate records of youth participation.
- Mentor youth and provide counseling and spiritual direction that aligns with church ministry strategy and plans.
- Preach and teach biblically sound sermons and Bible studies aligned to and approved by the Pastor.
- Communicate key Youth Ministry information with church leadership, staff, parents and congregation in a timely manner utilizing available resources (email, website, bulletin, newsletter, bulletin board, etc.).
- Overall management of the Youth wing facilities to include care and upkeep of the facility and inventory management to ensure service ready facilities.
- Ensure security policies and procedures are in place to provide overall security and well-being of each child (e.g., manned security, check-in / check-out procedures, employee background verification, etc.) and work with the NGBF Safe Team to incorporate required practices.
Staff Duties:
- Serve as a member of the total church staff to implement the Church vision and collaborate with church staff members to deliver Youth Ministry programs in an open team environment.
- Assist the Finance Committee in developing annual budgets.
- Periodically review church policies and programs with the Pastor and appropriate staff and bring recommendations for needed changes and improvements to the church.
- Pursue and participate in continuing education events and training opportunities within youth ministry practices.
Other Duties:
- Perform other ministry tasks and additional duties as assigned by the Pastor.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Minimum seven years of experience in youth mentoring, youth counseling, youth development, and Youth Pastoring preferred
- Experience in developing, organizing and effectively managing youth programs
- Experience in effectively working with children, teenagers, young adults and diverse groups
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to learn new hardware and software systems consistent with duties
- Ability to effectively analyze data and inquiries, think critically, and make appropriate decisions
- Effective organizational, time management and conflict management skills
- Ability to work as part of a team or work alone without close supervision
- Strong interpersonal skills. Must be people-oriented
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
- Ability to understand the needs of parents, students, staff and others to provide quality service
- Concerned with the spiritual welfare of the Student Ministry school participants and desire to serve and facilitate the strengthening of their skills.
- Understanding of and alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the church

- The selected candidate must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or have authorization to work in the U.S.
- The selected candidate must be a member of NGBF or join NGBF as a condition of their employment
