Summary:
Youth Outreach Coordinator supports AFG's mission, and has primary responsible for recruiting, training and supervising peer educators, and coordinating/leading street and site outreach efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and facilitate training of peer educators and program volunteers.
- Assist in the development of peer educator training curriculum.
- Lead or coordinate at least 12 hours of street/site outreach each week.
- Conduct outreach to schools, businesses, law enforcement and other agencies.
- Assist in facilitating Teen Outreach Program curriculum to middle and high school students
- Assist staff in providing crisis intervention, counseling, referrals, support, transportation, etc.
- Organize, pickup and distribute in-kind donations based on client needs.
- Offer resources to individuals and families in need of housing, food, healthcare, etc.
- Help the program in meeting its quality, scheduling, and budget requirements.
- Ensure individual support services are carried out by case planners, volunteers, and interns.
- Ensure documentation and data entry for all outreach activities and client contacts.
- Help compile statistics and narratives that contribute to monthly and quarterly grant reporting.
- Develop relationships with other agencies to ensure client access to needed services.

- Good decision-making, conflict-resolution, and effective listening skills
- Ability to handle crisis, cope with job stress and maintain confidentiality
Required Knowledge:
- Associate or bachelor's degree preferred or 3-5 years of related experience
- Prior experience working with youth who are juvenile offenders, runaways, homeless or involved in high-risk activities is strongly preferred
- Must possess a current driver's license, a good driving record and reliable transportation
- Requires basis computer software and Internet skills
