Job Title: Parish Youth Ministry and Media Coordinator

Overview

The Parish Youth and Media Coordinator is responsible to plan and direct programming aimed at invigorating the Catholic identity of youth from grades 6-12, under the supervision of the Director of Religious Education and the Pastor.  This position will focus on inspiring the youth to embrace a consistent prayer life, frequent reception of the sacraments and a fruitful relationship with Jesus Christ.

The media portion of this position will administer the parish website, posting on social media platforms, the parish app (for iPhone and Android) as well as develop innovative and creative contact across all platforms.

Job responsibilities

• Plan the vision of the parish Youth Program with the Director of Religious Education/Pastor.
• Collaborate with the Diocese of Venice Evangelization Department regarding programming and vision.
• Implement and follow all Diocesan and parish policies.
• Recruit, train and administer the Youth Ministry Team of Adults to minister high school, junior high, and St. Joseph School students to work towards the diocesan certification of all catechists.
• Oversee the planning and development of youth programs to meet both short- and long-term goals by organizing, administering and coordinating all Youth Ministry activities for the youth, including submission of an annual schedule and budget, implementation of the budget, fundraising, facility needs and maintenance. Programming should incorporate the components of Youth Ministry as directed by the USCCB.
• Obtain approval of Pastor/ Business Manager for all off-premises events or special events impacting the broader parish.
• Fulfill administrative requirements of the position such as, but not limited to; requesting permission for special events, providing reports on student participation, requesting funds and turning in expense documentation in a timely manner.
• Develop and assist with programs for Confirmation according to the Sacramental Preparation Guidelines of the Diocese of Venice with Pastor and Director of Faith Formation.
• Maintain frequent open communication with the Director of Religious Education and the Diocese of Venice and Youth Ministry Office, as well as event planning with the Parish Secretary.
• Establish meaningful one on one outreach to Catholic teens per diocesan guidelines, with the assistance of adult leaders.
• Continue professional development in Theology and Youth outreach.
• Promote and attend annual Diocesan Youth Rally, Youth Enrichment Day and any meetings sponsored by the Diocese of Venice.
• Serve as Scouting Liaison for the parish.
• Visit middle school students at St. Joseph School to promote Households of Faith program and encourage participation in Youth Ministry
• Use creative means to plan, organize and implement a range of social medial programs.
• Contribute to and regularly update external social sites such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.
• Develop a content calendar for social media and the parish website.
• Create, review and edit all approved content for the parish media channels.
• Any other assignment given by the Director of Religious Education and Pastor

• Bachelor’s degree in theology or related areas of concentration
• Minimum of 2 years of experience with youth programming (employment or volunteering)
• Work experience with middle and high school aged students
• Excellent organization skills
• Strong communications skills both written and oral
• In depth experience with media including website design, content, etc.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite
• Meet the requirements of safe environment policies regarding Safe Environment Training for Youth
• Must be able to pass a level II FDLE background check.
