Job Summary
Responsible for providing program services that support the goals, mission and vision of the Youth Development and Education department; including, but not limited to: assisting with assessment of program service needs; outreach and marketing of program services; delivery of services to targeted community youths and parents; and reporting of program activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide direct service and instruction to participating youths and parents through implementation of established work plans and activity schedules.
- Assist with community needs assessments, research and data collection/analysis to document, report and evaluate conditions pertaining to public education and other community issues.
- Implement after-school programs, training courses and curriculums that focus on personal skill development and empowerment for program participants, parents, staff and volunteers.
- Assist with implementation and operation of computerized data tracking systems to compile, manage and report participant attendance data, school performance information, demographic information and client feedback data.
- Assist with development of program resources by supporting fundraising, proposal development, program design, coordination of purchases, and related activities.
- Communicate and interact with service providers, educators, administrators, and community leaders to build capacity for supplemental education services and advocate for student academic achievement.
- Assist with development of a comprehensive marketing plan designed to attract program participants, potential sponsors and collaborating organizations.
- Represent the League during inter-agency meetings, special events, conferences, and other community development activities.
- Provide coordination of activities for youth participants, staff, consultants and volunteers.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
To be successful, the incumbent should at a minimum possess skills, knowledge or abilities in the following:
- Must have the ability to work effectively with school-aged youths, parents and collaborating service providers.
- Proficient in Google Suite: Docs, Sheets, Calendar and Microsoft Office Professional, Windows and other computer programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be able to work effectively with colleagues and other service providers through verbal, written and electronic communications.
- Must be able to formulate and write detailed program activity reports, and other documents as needed.
- Must be able to work with diverse groups of people.
- Must be extremely detailed oriented and proven organizational skills.
- Able to handle multiple tasks.
- Able to manage difficult and stressful situations effectively and calmly.
- Effectively model appropriate and respectful conflict resolution skills
- Proven ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, participants, and the public.
- Capable of working with minimal supervision.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
- Willing to undergo a background check, in accordance with local law/regulations;
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required.
- Valid proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, preferred.
Education and/or Experience
To be successful, the incumbent should possess:
- Bachelor's degree in community development, business administration, public administration, education, communications, or a related field. Masters’ preferred.
- Two years or more experience in youth or human service development, community planning and activities.
Work Environment
In this position, theworkweek is Monday through Friday with evenings and weekends. The incumbent should expect to spend time in a comfortable, indoor office environment with the potential of working remotely. Much of the incumbent’s time will be spent at a computer using Google Suite Software, Zoom, and on the phone. Some local and statewide travel is common in order to meet with strategic partners and potential customers. As such, a valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation is required. Reimbursable mileage, does not include commuting to and from work.
