Job Summary
The Professional Development Specialist (PDS) collaborates with leadership and other PNPs to coordinate the assessment of educational needs and subsequent planning, implementation, and evaluation of innovative education to meet identified organizational needs. The PDS fosters engagement in lifelong learning to enhance competency, advance clinical practice, and facilitate achievement of goals. PDSs serve as change agents, fluent in problem-solving and team building necessary to advance improvements. The PDS facilitates the translation, evaluation, and integration of research and evidence-based practice at the point of care. As transformational leaders, the PDS provides encouragement, support, and guidance to mentor leaders and staff.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Collaborates to facilitate identification of educational needs related to individual and organizational goals.
2. Develops, implements, and evaluates innovative educational opportunities to enhance staff development and professional growth.
3. Assists in the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of innovative classroom and department orientation for new employees.
4.. Strengthens the influence and effectiveness of the Professional Development Practitioner through a high level of professional engagement and self-development.
Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:
Active Kentucky RN license
BSN required, MSN preferred
MSN OR achieve certification in Nursing Professional Development within 2 years of entering role
Minimum 3-5 years recent acute care clinical experience in area of expertise
BLS certified, BLS Instructor preferred
Other advanced certifications/instructor certifications may be required based
upon area of expertise (i.e. NRP instructor required for Maternal Child PNP)
Effective written and oral communication skills; ability to competently present in front of large group
