Compensation:$22.00 per hour. Up to 18 hours per week

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Athletics Youth Development Professional will work as a coach teaching participants the rules of any given sport. In this position, your job duties are to coach the team, instill a spirit of healthy competition, and give team members pointers on how to improve their playing skills. While also acting as a positive adult role model, coach, and mentor. This position focuses on growth, development, and the provision of a safe, nurturing, and fun environment for the student athletes they instruct. This position needs to establish authority through leadership, communication, and most importantly patience.
Requirements
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepare Youth for Success:
• Promote program participation.
• Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
• Teaching sports-related rules and procedures.
• Safeguarding sports players from avoidable injuries by instilling appropriate techniques.
• Supervising the use of pertinent sporting equipment.
• Conducting safe lessons/curriculum.
• Outlining important nutritional requirements if requested.
• Solidifying mental agility through coaching.
• Encouraging diligence, adherence to sporting guidelines, and sportsmanship.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• May be required to drive Club vehicle as needed.
• Participation in special programs and/or events beyond regular hours, including weekends.
• Must attend staff meetings and participate in staff training events
• May consult with parents concerning member and Club issues.
• Other duties as assigned.
Interpersonal Relations:
Internal: Maintain close, daily, contact with Club staff (professional/volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions; instruct, and advise/counsel.
External: Maintain contact as needed with external community groups, schools, member's parents and other to assist in resolving problems or issues.
SKILLS AND COMPTETENCIES REQUIRED:
• Exceptional work ethic, well organized and self-motivated.
• Experience working independently, managing time efficiently, and setting their own schedule.
• Proven ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and prioritize to meet goals and objectives.
• Experience working with youth and adults of diverse identities and backgrounds
• A team player who enjoys working with others and aligning to achieve higher strategic goals and objectives for youth.
• Ability to provide guidance, assistance, and/or interpretation to others on how to apply procedures and standards to specific classes.
• Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics
• Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities
• Knowledgeable in variety of sports, low organization games, individual/dual activities, including, but not limited to basketball.
• Knowledgeable in the fundamental principle of coaching/sports
• Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents and community leaders
• Demonstrated knowledge of youth development, safe and appropriate activities for youth, and understanding of the culture and community in which the clubhouse is located.
• Team building/conflict resolution, motivational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Decision making, time management, and diversity orientation abilities
• Must have a valid California Drivers License
Red Cross certification in First Aid & CPR a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Able to remain stationary at long periods of time while working on computer.
• Frequently lifts, carries and positions objects weighing up to 30 pounds when moving supplies.
• Typically stands, bends, stoops and crouches.
• Regularly moves about the facility to coordinate work.
