SCOPE:
The Youth Care Worker Supervisor is responsible for the oversight and operational performance of all Youth Care Workers and Lead Youth Care Workers in a temporary on-site youth residential facility. Functions as the liaison with other supervisors and any other on-site vendors. This position is responsible for ensuring all areas of the assigned team are functioning as required. They ensure contractual requirements and client expectations are met. Reports to the Site Lead or department manager.
This position is also responsible to ensure all Lead/ Youth Care workers perform according to contract policies and always provide line of sight supervision of minors. They may be assigned to various departments such as: Clothing, Inventory, Laundry, Valuables, Education, Phone Call, movement of children from activity to activity, etc. Reports to the Site Lead or department Manager.
All services shall be provided in accordance with established standards, principles, and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and the high-quality standard for which Acuity is recognized.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides direct supervision to Lead/ Youth Care Workers to ensure they always maintain line-of-sight and enforce all clock in/out procedures.
  • Ensures the supervision of assigned on-site Lead/ Youth Care Worker staff.
  • Provides documentation of supervision by maintaining a supervisory log for all staff supervised.
  • Completes all required documentation that pertains to this position in a timely manner that may include daily reports.
  • Ensures that appropriate shelter care and line of sight supervision of unaccompanied minors by assigned staff is handled in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Supports the Site Lead through formal or informal supervision and provides staff with ongoing feedback.
  • Communicates frequently with other shelter departments and support staff regarding pertinent information about residents.
  • Assists during transition and movement of children from one activity to the next and one physical location to another.
  • Participates in ongoing meetings, conferences, and training programs as required.
  • Helps coordinate on-site community meetings, understands group dynamics, promotes and maintains a positive peer group culture.
  • Provides coverage for assigned staff as needed to meet contractual ratio requirements.
  • Supports the Site Lead through formal or informal supervision and provides staff with ongoing feedback.
  • Communicates frequently with shift supervisor.
  • Responsible for adhering to all Acuity, contract agency, and other state regulations.
  • Provides oversight during recreation, mealtime, relaxing time, and play.
  • Interacts with children in an appropriate manner, including playing games or during recreational time.
  • Ensures quality care for all children residents and timely response to their needs.
  • Ensures that all children's needs are provided for such as protection of valuables, clothing distribution, laundry services, etc.
  • Provides reports to manager regarding children's needs, activities, and documentation of time/location.
  • Follows through with all the disciplinary action procedures in cooperation with Human Resources.
  • Ensures that all incident and grievance reports are documented appropriately and provided to the appropriate department.
  • Ensures all times sheets are approved by the deadline in accordance with Acuity policies.
  • Reviews, approves and coordinates all absence requests.
  • Reviews staffing requirements and ensures the staffing table is updated accordingly.
  • Ensures Lead/Youth Care Workers are engaged in youth education, to include assisting teachers and facilitating as needed.
  • Provides performance evaluations in accordance with Acuity policy.
  • Adheres to confidentiality, HIPAA, and non- disclosure agreement related to UAC and shelter operations; both on and off work (i.e. media and social media postings).
  • Meet the requirements of the contract for all immunizations (Emergency Task Order or Cooperative Agreement).
  • In the absence of a more specific rule requirement, demonstrate competency, prudent judgment, and self-control in the presence of children and when performing assigned responsibilities.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned to ensure continuous operations.

  • Ensures the safety and security of all children and the operating conditions within the area of responsibility.
  • Conduct and perform all duties within scope and in a professional manner.
  • Assists in the active implementation of company initiatives to ensure compliance with OSHA VPP, ISO, Joint Commission, AAAHC, HIPAA, and other mandated regulations/standards.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work/break areas.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum age of 21 years or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of experience leading others.
  • 2 years of experience in previous ORR Shelter experience.
  • Must demonstrate experience training and leading others and adapting to diverse situations.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed under stress, in order to resolve unforeseen problems with little or no direction from manager.
  • Excellent presentation skills as well as oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer, common office equipment, and MS Office® products.
  • Fluent in Spanish & English (Read, Write, Speak, and Comprehend).
  • Be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, and be organized.
  • Able to receive and understand detailed information through oral communication.
  • Must have the capacity to adapt to diverse situations.
  • Clean criminal background check.
  • Clean Child Abuse and Neglect (CA/N) or Child Protective Services Check.
  • Must be able to obtain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certifications.
  • Must be able to perform Emergency Behavioral Intervention (EBI) and effectively monitor and execute the shelter's Behavior Management Plan for youth in care (as applicable per, operating procedures, contract and/or cooperative agreements).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in human services or related field, with 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in childcare or residential care for adolescents.
  • Knowledge of government property, shipping, packing, and logistical operations.
  • 1 year of experience with children in child welfare or social service setting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Visual acuity required to complete paperwork, computer work and direct line of sight supervision of staff.
  • Able to communicate verbally and listen for constant surveillance of UAC activities.
  • Able to receive and understand detailed information through oral and written communication.
  • Able to withstand changing environmental conditions with weather (rain, lightning, extreme heat and winds).
  • Able to withstand and manipulate through construction areas, sports fields, etc.
  • Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
  • May be asked to supervise children indoors and outdoors throughout the entire duration of their shift period, which lasts 8 hours or more on a typical shift.
  • Must be able to stay awake/alert, sit, stand, walk, bend, or stoop for extended periods of time and/or the entire duration of the shift, as necessary.
  • Must be prepared and physically able to respond with the appropriate protocol in a variety of dynamic supervision situations with children.
  • Must be physically able to run, jump, lunge, twist, push, pull, and assist evacuating or carrying an adolescent to safety.
  • Able to communicate verbally and listen for constant surveillance of children and staff activities.
