JOB LOCATION:Various Gyms in Waukee & West Des Moines
HOURS/DAYS SCHEDULE:Saturday mornings and afternoons.
PAY RANGE: $10.50-$12.50/hour
CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: February 15, 2023- Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Operating within the policies, procedures, and practices of the YMCA of Greater Des Moines, this position is responsible for supervising an assigned site and the activities of the participating members/guests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Supervise activities located at site assigned to.
2. Supervise members/guests participating at site and enforce rules and policies.
3. Exercise sound judgment in situations not covered by policies, procedures, and practices.
4. Report specific problems or needs to supervisor or designated staff person.
5. Know emergency procedures and be able to demonstrate them.
6. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or designated staff person.
7. Demonstrate and support the objectives of the Association as embodied in the mission statement and values.

Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

1. Ability to read, write, and perform simple mathematical functions
2. Must be at least 16 years of age.
3. Minimum one years of customer service experience; supervisory experience preferred.
4. Current Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED Certification OR equivalent - prior to starting.
5. Intro to Y's Cause & Culture Online Course - prior to starting if hired.
6. Additional training to be completed within the first 30 days and maintained afterwards.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate with people and monitor property and activity
2. Ability to handle disgruntled individuals without personalizing comments
3. Ability to perform light physical activity
4. Ability to adapt to variety of and changing working condition

5. Ability to maintain control even when distracted by noise and activity
6. Attend trainings and/or courses as required by the YMCA

8. Respond to questions and concerns of program participants and families.
