As our Youth Basketball Coach - Part-Time, you will provide a fun, safe, and welcoming experience for participants, while they learn individual and team skills, camaraderie and ways to live healthy and active lifestyles. You will provide coaching support at various Rip City Hoops camps, clinics, coach’s trainings, and related events.   

    

Our ideal candidate is an energetic and engaging individual who has a solid understanding of the game of basketball. We’re looking for someone who has the ability to work effectively with children of all ages, abilities, and skill levels. Additionally, we're looking for someone with strong communication skills and a flexible schedule with the ability to coach camps during weekday evenings and weekends.

DAY-TO-DAY:    

  • Run and instruct Youth Basketball stations and drills such as dribbling, shooting, and defense.
  • Help coordinate various aspects of the Rip City Hoops Youth Basketball program, including event logistics, registration, setup, and breakdown.
  • Support the implementation of the curriculum provided for all Rip City Hoops events.
  • Participate in bi-weekly coaches’ meetings by attending in person or calling in.
  • Submit availability that allows for open weekends, weeknights OR weekdays (must be available at least 5 hours per week, with increased availability during Winter / Spring and Summer Breaks for Camps).
  • Attend a minimum of 1 Trail Blazers Sanctioned Coach training per Fiscal Year.
  • Assist with set-up and take-down at all worked events.
  • Follow event expectations per Manager, Lead Coach & onsite point of contact.
  • Collect youth/parent feedback informally after events to share with lead coach and greater team.
  • Provide insights to improve and develop Rip City Hoops Curriculum.
  • Reflect Trail Blazer brand expectations.
  • Encourage and mentor youth.

   

WE’D LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU:   

  • Have experience working with children
  • Know and love the game of basketball
  • You possess or have the ability to obtain First Aid, AED and CPR certifications
  • Are a team player and are able to collaborate within a diverse group
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills and the ability to interact positively with youth, community members, and all levels of the organization.
  • Are able to work a flexible schedule including some early mornings, nights, and weekends. Must be available at least 5 hours per week, with increased availability during Winter / Spring and Summer Breaks for Camps.

    

WE’D BE THRILLED IF YOU ALSO HAVE:   

  • Previous experience working at children's sports camps
  • High school, College, or professional basketball playing or coaching experience
