Form of workThe Archdiocese of Chicago, the third largest in the United States, serves more than 2.2 million Catholics in 216 parishes in Cook County and Lake County, a geographic area of 1,411 square miles. The Archdiocese, pastored by Cardinal Blase J. Cupich, has more than 13,000 employees in its systems and ministries, including Catholic Charities, the region's largest nonprofit social service agency. The Archdiocese also has one of the country's largest seminaries. The Archdiocese's 154 elementary and secondary schools comprise one of the largest U.S. private school systems. The Youth and Young Adult Outreach Coordinator is a faith filled Catholic that comfortably speaks about the truth of our Catholic teaching including difficult topics regarding sexuality, marriage and gender. They build relationships between the Respect Life Office and other departments, the faithful, and our own team. This person takes direction well while being self-directed; lives their life according to our faith, manages projects and travels around the Archdiocese frequently.
Responsibilities listed are not limited to other duties assigned:
- Develops relationships with leaders of Respect Life College and High School Clubs within the Archdiocese of Chicago. Speaks at high schools, elementary schools, parishes, Youth and Young Adult groups, and other organizations about chastity and pro-life issues.
- Coordinates the speaker requests for retreats/presentations.
- Researches and promotes educational materials and seminars for parents, theology teachers, catechists, youth ministers and others who minister to Youth and Young Adults, in support of the Respect Life and Chastity Education Initiative's mission.
- Support events that minister to Youth and Young Adults on chastity and pro-life issues, and fully participates as a part of the leadership of the annual Echo retreat.
- Coordinates the Theology of the Body Ambassador Team - which includes scheduling gatherings, outreach to members and potential members, developing training, keeping track of member qualifications and readiness to assist with training in schools and parishes.
- Assists with Chastity Education and pro-life outreach to African American community, Latino community, and Polish immigrant community through developing relationships and programs, and providing input on services and materials.
- As assigned by the Senior Coordinator, provides support and planning assistance to pro-life organizations within the Archdiocese of Chicago and beyond to help connect the many Pregnancy Centers/Women Centers in their effort to help women choose life.
- Assists Senior Coordinator with annual post-abortion presentation to transitional deacons and other seminarians at Mundelein Seminary. Also, assists Senior Coordinator with strategic planning, policies, procedures, budget and with supporting the public policy efforts of the Catholic Conference of Illinois.
