We need your help with our Young Artists + Young Actors (YAYA) Summer Camp to partner with parents/guardians, volunteers, and community partners to hold ourselves accountable for each child in our program, so they expand their creativity, develop artistic skills, build friendships, and have a positive experience exploring cultural arts.
Duties and Responsibilities
This position is a great fit for a dynamic individual who has experience working with young people and is passionate about teaching, creating and appreciating art.
The Young Actors + Young Artists Summer Camp Head Instructor will work closely with the Assistant Instructor, Teen Arts Support Staff and the Center Arts Program Manager. This position will report to the Executive Director.
Specific Responsibilities
Complete pre-camp training and screening process
Lead the design process of daily camp activities and review performance piece in pre-camp planning session
Co-lead and implement daily activities, game, performance and projects throughout camp period
Responsible to monitor and care for the campers to create a safe and positive environment
Check campers in and out of program daily
Education Level, Knowledge and Work Experience
High School Diploma required, preferred some college or youth program training
Previous experience with performing and visual arts based programming, activities and/or projects
Must have experience working with kids, ideally ages 7-10

Effective and efficient verbal communication skills and time management
Experience with assisting in creating activities or lessons
Self-starter with the ability to take initiative, adapt to shifting priorities and develop solutions quickly and effectively
Presentation skills to effectively convey activities and camp curriculum
Proficiency in technical areas such as smartboards, internet functions and more is a plus
Interpersonal savvy to make connections with education and community and partners a plus
Interact professionally and amicably with students, parents, and staff
Unquestionable personal code of ethics, integrity, diversity and project a professional image of trust.
Must pass a Level 2 background check and have reliable transportation.
This is a contractor position running from June 17 through August 9, 2024, Mondays-Friday, from 8:45 am to 4:15 pm. There will be a mandatory paid training day in May and planning day in June, dates to be determined based on availability. Thursday, July 4th will be a paid holiday. Compensation is $1,875 per 2 week session, total of 4 sessions. Location of camp will be at the Art and Culture Center/Hollywood 1650 Harrison Street Hollywood, Florida 33020
Minimal physical requirements to include walking, standing, occasional lifting, sitting at workstation and ability to move about to support camp activities.
