Onward Learning Case Manager Duties & Responsibilities
Full-Time | On-site in Snohomish County
Wages: $20-$22/hr | +$1.50/hr pay differential for multi-lingual skills
- Assist students in applying to college, financial aid, and other supports as needed.
- Support program participants in identifying and working toward goals, including maintaining educational standing and stability in campus housing.
- Identify and coordinate with relevant partners and providers – both on- and off-campus – to establish supportive services for participants.
- Support students in advocating for their needs with Everett Community College, Edmonds College, and other providers.
- Assist students in identifying and addressing barriers to success, including meeting academic standards. Provide referrals and connections to resources as needed.
- Maintain some schedule flexibility to adjust to meet participant needs, including working occasional weekends and evenings (within a 40-hour work week).
- Attend meetings as needed/instructed by supervisor.
- Approach work with a harm reduction and trauma-informed lens.
- Maintain detailed case records, both paper and electronic.

Qualifications:
- BA degree preferred in a social science or equivalent field and one year working directly with at-risk-youth (or) any combination of experience and education that support the needs of the position.
- Strong and effective communication skills; proficiency in crisis intervention/de-escalation.
- Knowledge of adolescent development, community resources, and case management skills, including a strengths-based approach. Must have good organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with other staff members, program participants, vendors, and the public.
- Dedication to advocating for and working with individuals experiencing housing instability.
- Open commitment to serving, supporting, accepting, and collaborating with individuals of all races, ages, genders, backgrounds, political opinions, beliefs, sexual orientations, criminal histories, citizenship or marital statuses, and religious beliefs. Special consideration given to applicants with a demonstrated history of supporting and advocating for the LGBTQ community, women, people of color, immigrants, and other historically marginalized or persecuted groups.

General Minimum Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Clear a background check with DCYF.
- Possess a valid Washington State driver’s license, insurance and reliable transportation.
Physical:
- Ability to perform range of physical motions, exerting up to 50 pounds.
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds;
- Standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, kneeling, squatting, and stooping;
- Running for brief periods of time; and
- Go up and down stairs.
