Ymca Program Group Leader (Expanded Learning Afterschool Program)

Come and make an impact in our education system. Our YMCA's Expanded Learning Program is seeking Group Leaders to work with kids (K-8th Grade) in our YMCA's Expanded Learning Program for the 2023-2024 school year!

The Group Leader position will end in June with opportunities to be rehired for the summer and next school year. Your typical work schedule is Monday-Friday, 1:00pm-6:00pm. You will be assigned to work at a school site in:

• Richmond
• San Pablo
• Tara Hills
• El Sobrante

You will work with the team's Site Coordinator to provide academic achievement, physical play, and creativity enrichment opportunities to the kids in our YMCA Expanded Learning (ELP) program. Be willing to learn. Take action to engage and inspire students, staff, and volunteers.

About the YMCA Expanded Learning Program
We work with schools in West Contra Costa and Oakland to create Afterschool Programming that focus on student enrichment in creativity, academic achievement, and physical play. Together, we guide underserved children and families to reach their full potential.

Your Leadership Responsibilities

• Supervise groups of 15-20 students
• Plan lessons and lead daily activities (academic, enrichment, or physical)
• Record and track attendance
• Collaborate with team to create a clean and safe learning environment

Your Qualifications:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Have completed 48 college units or passed the Instructional Aid (IA) Exam
• (We will offer IA Exam if the above is not met.)
• Pass DOJ/FBI criminal background check
• Have CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications within 30 days of hire

• Compensation: $21 per hour

• Regular School Year: Ideal candidates are able to work 1pm-6pm, Monday-Friday. Because ELP is an Afterschool Program, you must be able to work afternoons and evenings.
