URGENTLY HIRING!! GREAT OPPORTUNITY
Seeking an experienced Yard Hostler to start immediately.
General Position Summary:
Switch trailers from the yards to the dock and vice versa
Essential Functions.
· Switches trailers from the yards to the dock and vice versa in a timely manner to meet production needs.
· Inspects switcher truck daily and notify dispatch when any repairs are needed
· Inspects trailer lights, tires and licensing.
· Notifies the transportation manager if repairs are needed and verify that the required repairs are made.
· Examines the completed load at the dock for accurate status ID tag and proper securing of loaded drums.
· Records drum counts on bills of lading.
· Reports to management on yard condition and assists with clean-up efforts.
· Assists in directing and off-loading customers and common carriers on site.
· Monitors trailers in the yards and re-position trailers to fully utilize the yard when applicable.
· Works with the production supervisor to best coordinate inbound trailers and stage trailers for production runs.
· Assists with trailer loading and unloading (training provided).
Secondary Functions
· Assists loading dock and receiving when additional employees are needed.
· Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
· Truck driving skills (No CDL is required)
Education and Experience
· High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
· Truck driving experience required
Physical Requirements:
· Sitting in tractor for extended periods of time while switching trailers
· Standing - required to remain on feet for extended periods of time without being able to leave work area (frequent). Standing while helping with loading dock and receiving.
· Lifting - required to raise or lower objects from one level to another with a weight of 30-50 pounds using proper lifting techniques (constant). Lifting to 60 lbs. during loading and unloading.
· Pulling/Pushing - requires exerting force on a regular basis so that the object is moved to or away from the employer (constant)

· Carrying - required on a regular basis to carry objects in arms
· Stooping and Crouching - regularly required to bend forward by bending at the waist and by bending legs and spine (frequent).
· Grasping - regularly required to pick up objects with fingers (constant).
· Reaching - required to use the hands and arms to reach for objects (constant).
· Ability to cross bridges over moving conveyors.
· Speaking - requires expressing ideas (frequent).
· Listening - required to have the ability to hear (frequent)
Mental Requirements:
· General Intelligence - ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions and orientation to the job
· Motor Coordination Skills - ability to coordinate eyes, hands and fingers accurately and handle precise movements.
· Verbal Intelligence - ability to understand the meaning of words and respond effectively.
· Must be able to read and write
Work Environment:
· Noise - exposed to loud noise inside the plant and required to wear earplugs in the plant at all times.
· Exposed to mechanical hazards and atmospheric fumes/vapors
· Outdoor environment with heat, cold, uneven ground vehicle traffic
· Heat - exposed to high temperatures during summer months.
· Cold exposure - Exposed to low temperatures during winter months.
· Mechanical - exposed to mechanical hazards.
· Work adjacent to moving conveyors.
Day shift, start as early as 4 a.m. M-F, may be required to work on Saturday.
