Job Title: Writer/Editor

Reports to: Director of Marketing
Salary: $60,000 - $70,000
Schedule: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm EST
Position Summary:
The Writer/Editor is responsible for content generation and planning across RAINN’s platforms and projects, editorial oversight and support for RAINN’s materials, and management of external writing support. The Writer/Editor will collaborate across departments and help set and maintain RAINN’s external organization tone and style.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Content Writing:
- Generate compelling and informative content for various platforms, including website articles, blog posts, social media, and marketing materials.
- Craft content that aligns with RAINN's mission and effectively communicates key messages to diverse audiences.
Content Planning:
- Develop content strategies in collaboration with the marketing and communications team members.
- Plan and execute editorial calendars to ensure a consistent and engaging presence across multiple channels.
Organizational editing:
- Edit and proofread content produced by RAINN staff to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to AP style and organization style.
- Provide constructive feedback to enhance the overall quality of written materials.
Management of Freelance Writers:
- Recruit, onboard, and manage freelance writers to expand the organization's content capabilities.
- Coordinate assignments, deadlines, and ensure the delivery of high-quality content from freelancers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field.
- Proven experience in content writing and editing, with a strong portfolio showcasing work in AP style.
- Strong interviewing and storytelling skills.
- Journalistic experience preferred.
- Familiarity with issues related to sexual violence and a commitment to RAINN's mission.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
RAINN Office Status:This position is remote. As a remote team member, your primary work location will be outside of our Washington, DC office. This arrangement offers you the flexibility to work from your preferred location while still actively contributing to our collaborative efforts. While you won't be based in the office, occasional business travel may be required as part of your role to strengthen our connections and support key projects.
