General Description

Position in which the primary responsibility is to report, write and rewrite breaking news from multiple sources into 300-500-word news stories for publication on Newsmax.com. Assignments can include original reporting, or from news releases, lawsuits, interviews, social media and other sources, such as televised news conferences or appearance of newsmaker interviews on Newsmax TV and other outlets. Writer also will generate non-spot news story ideas and initiate contact to develop them in consultation with senior editing staff.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

· Focus on politics and national news with health, financial and world news coverage

· Write accurate, strong and engaging headlines and copy

· Write and report quickly on breaking news

Position Requirements:

· Bachelor’s Degree preferred

· 3+ years experience as a writer for online or other publications preferred

· Computer knowledge: document editing software, like Microsoft Word

· Must be highly organized to track workflow at fast pace

· Experience using online CMS or ability to learn

· Great communication and interpersonal skills

· Understanding traffic analytics

· Ability to multi-task and to work on deadline

· Position is based in either New York City or Boca Raton, Fla., office but remote contract work also considered.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $39,419.85 - $47,473.37 per year
