LifeWorks of Austin, TX is looking for a part time Work StudyHuman Resources Assistant to join our Human Resources team! This semester long Work Study position will support the Human Resources department in administrative functions as needed. This position will provide great professional work experience and allow for exposure into the non-profit industry.
This position will work up to 19 hours per week. Hours to be negotiated between student and supervisor.
Work-Study students paid through the University of Texas. If student’s financial aid package changes and student is no longer eligible for Work Study aid, LifeWorks would determine opportunity continues or discontinues depending on budget, and any other business or performance factors. The rate of pay offered for this position will range between $12.00-$15.00/hr depending upon experience.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with the recruiting process, including posting positions, reviewing applicants, scheduling interviews, and checking references.
- Helps compile monthly employee recognition processes, including birthday and anniversary announcements as well as Gratitude Awards.
- Assist in reviewing and updating job descriptions to ensure consistent language and structure across similar positions.
- Collaborates in archiving old personnel records and purging documents that are beyond the retention period.
- Provide ongoing support to the Chief Human Resource Officer for special projects.
- Maintains utmost confidentiality and privacy of information position is privy to handling.
- Participates in preparing for audits and funder monitoring by pulling and compiling required documentation.
- Supports other HR duties and functions as needed and as assigned, working in close collaboration with the other HR team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resource, management, business administration, organizational psychology or related degree (will consider students in Junior or Senior year of undergraduate program)
- Enrolled in accredited university.
- Six months of relevant work experience preferred.
- Organized, self-directed work style, with a customer service orientation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel and tech savvy with an ability to learn systems quickly.
