Evergreen Family Medicine is committed to providing excellent care for your family with clinics in Roseburg and Myrtle Creek Oregon. Evergreen Family Medicine serves outpatient needs, including Urgent Care, Family Practice, Womens Health, Occupational Health, and school-based telehealth.

Job Summary Fast growing patient centered OB/GYN clinic seeking a Medical Receptionist to be a key player in our commitment to giving patients the best experience possible, while we provide them the highest quality patient care in our area.
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Greet visitors as soon as they enter, determine their needs, and direct them to the proper area of the facility.
  • Collect information from patients, including insurance information, money for copays and contact information via phone or in person to put into companys software system.
  • Maintains confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations and EFM policies.
  • Adheres strictly to EFM departmental standards, protocols, and policies, including state and federal regulations.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with coworkers, managers, and patients via phone, email, or in person.
  • Answers phones diligently and efficiently.
  • Responds to or redirects telephone calls to appropriate staff/departments.
  • Maintains current knowledge of all insurances, including verifying benefits and eligibility for OHP, DCIPA, and Atrio, including PCP assignment.
  • Advocates for patients by creating appropriate patient cases, requests, communications, and appointments in Athena.
  • Communication with outside provider offices, facilities, and insurances via phone, fax, and computer.
  • Keeps an active working knowledge of Athena, engages in continuing education and trainings as offered by manager or company. Accurately accounts for credit card transitions posted and balances batch and the end of the night.
  • Promotes an environment filled with teamwork, a positive outlook, and constant professionalism.
  • All other duties as assigned by manager.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year experience in the medical field.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Able to maintain the confidentiality of private information.
  • Friendly demeanor and positive attitude.
  • Assess patient needs and document accurately
  • Communicate with the provider and other nurses and team members to ensure the patients well being
  • Maintain a clean, neat and safe work environment for patient and staff according to policy and procedures
  • Participate in economical utilization of supplies
  • Ensure equipment is maintained in a safe and clean manner
  • Minimize non-productive time and fill slow periods with activities that will enable you to prepare to meet the future needs of EFM WH

Physical requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; and reach forward with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Must be able to withstand physical and emotional stress.
  • Requires long hours of standing and moving.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 - 35 pounds at times.
