Department of Psychiatry has an opening for a full-time WBHW Service Line - Health Psychologist position.

Nature of Work

The Department of Psychiatry collaborates closely with a broad range of clinical departments at the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) to provide integrated Behavioral Health care in primary and specialty medical settings. Our Department is committed to hiring a Health Psychologist to provide integrated clinical services in women's primary care as well as primary and specialty obstetrical and gynecological settings at the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) and possibly one or more community practices.  Faculty in this position will provide evidenced-based care to women seen within the Women's Behavioral Health and WellnessService Line, Department of Psychiatry, University of Colorado School of Medicine. This initiative is designed to increase access to treatment for women across the life span with mental health, psychosocial and physical concerns. Major components include Women's Behavioral Health and Wellness Outpatient Programs, Integrated Behavioral Health Services in women's primary and specialty care settings, Perinatal Mental Health Programs as well as prevention, telehealth, and care coordination services.

The psychologist recruited for this full-time position will also become part of the Department of Psychiatry's growing and dynamic Adult Division's Integrated Behavioral Health Service. This position could be categorized as Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Clinical Associate Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below. 

Specific responsibilities for this faculty positiononthe Department of Psychiatry Women's Behavioral Health and Wellness Clinical Service Team include:

  • Providing integrated Behavioral Health services in women's primary care and primary and specialty obstetrical and gynecological settings.
  • Screening, consultation, targeted assessments, and brief, focused prevention and treatment interventions for women coping with physical, psychological, and psychosocial aspects of:
  • PMDD, PCOS, menopause, persistent pelvic pain, uro-gynecological conditions, breast and gynecological cancers, sexual health concerns, etc.
  • Reproductive challenges such as infertility, pregnancy complications and loss, neonatal death, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, early menopause, infertility after cancer, etc.
  • Providing Behavioral Health interventions to prepare women for invasive diagnostic, treatment, and prevention procedures.
  • Leading group visits and psychoeducational workshops on women's Health andBehavioral Health issues in integrated, outpatient, and community settings.
  • Collaborating with a patients, couples and colleagues from diverse backgrounds with respect to race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, gender, gender identity, ability status, religion, political beliefs, socioeconomic status, and any other factors related to systemic oppression.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clinical providers and staff in psychiatry and women's health settings.
  • Strong commitment to inter-professional, team-based care in the Women's Behavioral Health and WellnessService Line, and in women's primary care and obgyn settings.
  • Participating in training Department of Psychiatry Post-Doctoral Fellows in Clinical Health Psychology, Psychology Externs and Interns as well as Residents and Fellows in collaborating clinical Departments.
  • Charting patient visits using an electronic medical record. 
  • Triaging patients to collaborating colleagues across disciplines, departments, and communities.Participating in quality improvement, outcome studies, and practice transformation of Women's Behavioral Health services.

Supervision Received

  • The psychologist hired in this role will report to the Clinical Director of the Women's Behavioral Health and WellnessService Line as well as the Director of Integrated Behavioral Health, Adult Division, Department of Psychiatry. Supervision and mentorship will also be available from other seasoned Health Psychologists in the Department.

Supervision Exercised

  • The psychologist in this position may supervise Department of Psychiatry Post-Doctoral Fellows in Clinical Health Psychology, Psychology externs and Interns and other Behavioral Health trainees.

    Salary and Benefits:

    The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at:

    Instructor: $90,000 to $105,000.

    Senior Instructor: $90,000 to $105,000.

    Assistant Professor: $90,000 to $105,000.

    Associate Professor: $113,000 to $130,000.

    The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

    The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

    Instructor:

    • 1-3 years of related experience at rank or equivalent experience. 
    • Minimum degree qualifications: PhD or PsyD in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA or CPA accredited program with an APA or APPIC approved internship.

    Senior Instructor:

    • 1-3 years of related experience at rank or equivalent experience. 
    • Minimum degree qualifications: PhD or PsyD in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA or CPA accredited program with an APA or APPIC approved internship.

    Assistant Professor:

    • 1-3 years of related experience at rank or equivalent experience. 
    • Minimum degree qualifications: PhD or PsyD in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA or CPA accredited program with an APA or APPIC approved internship.

    Associate Professor:

    • 4 years of related experience at rank or equivalent experience. 
    • Minimum degree qualifications: PhD or PsyD in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA or CPA accredited program with an APA or APPIC approved internship.

    Applicable for all ranks:

    • Licensed psychologist in Colorado or ability to obtain Colorado state licensure prior to the onset of employment at UCH.
    • Post-doctoral fellowship focused on health psychology, integrated Behavioral Health care in primary care settings, women's Health and mental health, and/or consultation-liaison services.
    • Two or more years of experience in clinical psychology, primary care, obstetrics and gynecology, women's specialty care settings or behavioral medicine/health psychology.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain credentialing through the University of Colorado Health system.

     

    Preferred Qualifications (applicable for all ranks) 

    • Expertise or certification in sex therapy with women with persistent pelvic pain, cancer and other conditions impacting sexual health.
    • Board certified with ABPP or willingness to seek board certification in clinical psychology, clinical health psychology or counseling psychology.
    • Interest in collaborating in research in women's Health andBehavioral Health research.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (applicable for all ranks)

    • Knowledge of gender specific issues related to women's access to medical and Behavioral Health care, symptom presentation, approaches to screening and assessment, prevention and treatment interventions and psychopharmacology.
    • Knowledge of evidenced-based approaches in women's Health andBehavioral Health.
