We have a great new opportunity available at our Elizabeth Tooling - McKeesport, PA facility as a Wire EDM Operator. The Wire EDM Operator is responsible for operating Electrical Discharge Machines (EDM) to precision-cut complex shapes and contours from metal workpieces using a wire electrode. This role involves working with blueprints, CAD designs, and specifications to create high-precision components with tight tolerances for use in our tooling manufacturing process.
Job Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate Wire EDM equipment to cut, shape, and contour metal workpieces according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Interpret blueprints, CAD designs, and technical drawings to determine machining requirements and electrode paths.
- Inspect and measure finished components using precision measuring instruments to ensure they meet quality standards and adhere to specified tolerances.
- Make necessary adjustments to the Wire EDM machine to achieve precise measurements and maintain cutting accuracy.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on Wire EDM equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Adhere to safety protocols, follow safety guidelines, and maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical education or apprenticeship in machining is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Wire EDM Operator or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of Wire EDM equipment and operations.
- Proficiency in CNC programming for Wire EDM machines and manual machining techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD designs.
- Exceptional attention to detail and precision in work to meet tight tolerances and quality standards.
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing machining challenges.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in machining to ensure a safe work environment.
Pay: The hourly range is between $30-37/hr based on your education, skills, and experience. 2nd Shift offers a $3.00 shift differential!
Schedule Availability: 1st shift Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:00 pm and 2nd Shift Monday - Friday 3:00 pm -11:00 pm. Overtime and Saturdays may be required based on production levels.
