Wild Toledo Restoration Technician
(Seasonal / Part Time)

Under limited supervision, the Wild Toledo Restoration Technician will perform a variety of duties related to the operation of Wild Toledo’s native habitat restoration initiatives. Candidate will report to the Wild Toledo Coordinator. Restoration sites span a variety of habitats such as prairies, woodlands, and wetlands. Locations include the Toledo Zoo campus as well as numerous off-site locations in both urban and rural settings including municipalities, schools, corporate campuses, and private residences. The Toledo Zoo is an EOE and a drug/alcohol free work place.
Description
- Routine tasks include restoration site preparation, native plant and seed installation, invasive species management, use of small power equipment, record keeping, and engaging with the public during educational outreach events.
- Technicians will be cross-trained on all other Wild Toledo initiatives to provide occasional coverage and a wider range of experience and skills.
- Traveling to various locations throughout the NW Ohio and SE Michigan Areas
- Some to minimal travel over an hour away in a day.
- Expected to work in regular field conditions that may include heat, humidity, rain, insect bites, and stings.
- Preference will be given to current biology students as well as those with degrees in the field.
-Some weekend work required
Qualifications (Required):
- Weekend availability
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Must be insurable by the Zoo’s fleet insurance carrier.
