As part of the Searstone Wellness Program, residents should receive comprehensive, well balanced program that provides the opportunity to pursue a healthy lifestyle. Must contact new residents to set up meetings within first month after move in. Formulate a comprehensive wellness plan for each resident based on information obtained at the interview. Follow up with residents in 3 months to evaluate effectiveness of program. The Director of Resident Life and Wellness oversees the Resident Life and Wellness programs, to ensure a high level of satisfactory programming is being offered to residents monthly. The Wellness Coordinator reports to the Director of Resident Life and Wellness.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNTIONS:
1. Assist in coordination with Life Enrichment Team to provide necessary coverage to help with Resident Life calendar programming needs, including evenings, holidays, and weekend programs.
2. Assist in keeping Searstone TV Channel current and running properly.
3. Meet with residents to establish and conduct an interview to formulate a comprehensive wellness plan to meet their goals and needs.
4. Offer required fitness orientations for residents wanting to use equipment.
5. Follow up with established resident to see how program is working, and change accordingly to meet their goals and needs.
6. In coordination with Life Enrichment Team, Plan Wellness educational seminars monthly with local doctors, hospitals, for educational purposes for residents.
7. Develop new class opportunities quarterly to meet the needs of all residents.
8. Provide class opportunities for all exercise levels to effectively reach all residents.
9. Maintain class attendance records for each program to determine effectiveness of each class.
10. Maintain attendance records for pool and fitness room to determine effective usage of wellness areas.
11. Teach/Lead fitness programming on land and in the pool.
12. Offer personal training instruction to residents that desire it.
13. Assist in managing contract instructors for specialty classes as needed, to ensure they are meeting the standards of our residents in their exercise programs; add or change classes depending on effectiveness.
14. Print in house mailings for special programs.
15. Assist with creating monthly community life calendar/descriptions packet.
16. Maintain fitness class calendar and distribute quarterly with accurate class descriptions.
17. Develop and facilitate recreational programming year round among the community, such as walking groups, golf, shuffleboard, croquet, tennis, table tennis, bocce ball etc.
18. Maintain and inspect all Keiser resistive equipment and True cardio equipment and keep it working properly and safely.
19. Complete a fitness assessment for each resident monthly—during their birthday month.
20. Organize and facilitate wellness challenges for residents and staff to promote a healthy lifestyle.
21. Is responsible for following the Searstone Inclement Weather Plan; and Fire and Safety Plan.
22. Must understand and be able to speak and read English fluently.
23. Any other duties/tasks that may be asked or required from the Executive Director and/or Director of Resident Life and Wellness.
24. Must obtain Certified Pool Operators (CPO) License.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BS Exercise Science, related discipline, or equivalent experience
Must be able to utilize skills to evaluate physical and emotional needs of residents and make recommendations to staff
Must have good verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
CPR certification required.
