Summary:
A yacht services/management company is looking to hire a Welding Manager. The welding manager would be responsible for leading a team of 5 or more marine welders and fabricators. This role would oversee all welding and fabricating duties at 3 different local marinas.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure welding and brazing procedures, personnel, and certifications meet guidelines and contract requirements.
- Manage a team of welders and support the Welding Department Manager in maintaining certifications
- Collaborate with management to ensure NDE (Non-Destructive Examination) performed by subcontractors meets contract specifications.
- Establish and improve welding processes, including minimizing distortion and enhancing weld quality
- Work with Operations VP to enhance welding quality and identify process improvements
- Monitor personnel performance and provide weld repair recommendations
- Assist in developing weld procedures and qualifications to reduce defects
- Interpret and communicate weld defects; conduct root cause analysis
- Develop and improve fitting and welding processes and tools
- Assist with equipment specification and procurement
- Serve as a liaison to customers and management
Requirements:
- Years of relevant work experience required: 2 years of welding and fabrication experience in addition to supervising staff
- Highly proficient in MIG, TIG, and/or Stick Welding
- Previous experience leading 5 or more welders/mechanics
- Marine welding background highly preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Outlook and Excel
- Experience with Dockmaster a plus
- Ability to read an interpret blueprints
- Experience managing employee performance
- Certified Welder
