Form of workJob Summary: As the Welder you will be responsible for cutting and welding various materials according to plan.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Carrying out gas metal arc welding (GMAW), to manufacture items and components
- Produce strong, clean welds
- Test output to ensure strength and tolerance of welds
- Cutting materials into the required shapes, checking dimensions and thicknesses
- Welding or joining metal and other materials into a wide range component such as guarding, grating, performing repairs on machinery.
- Following plans, drawings, and instructions
- Operating tools and machinery and welding equipment
- Inspecting and testing welds with precision measuring instruments
- Dismantling metal structures
- Cleaning tools, equipment, and work areas
- Wearing safety clothing and using protective equipment
- Follow Vest’s safety procedures
Required Skills
- Familiarity with common welding tools and procedures, metal fabricating, grinding, and finishing metals
- Ability to use variety of tools and equipment
- Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read blueprints and recognize welding symbols and specifications
- Ability to use heavy machinery, such as forklifts and cranes
- Good communications
- Good problem solving skills
Education and Experience:
Minimum 1-year Welding experience, or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment
High School Diploma or GED
AWS Certificate Welder or Welding Fabricator a plus
