Job Overview:
We are currently seeking a skilled Welder and the ideal candidate will have extensive experience in welding techniques, particularly in reciprocating compressor components used in the oil & gas industry. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, a commitment to quality, and a thorough understanding of welding procedures and safety protocols.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Welder will be responsible for the following:
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine welding requirements for reciprocating compressor components.
- Set up and operate welding equipment, including gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) processes, Gas Tungsten arc welding (GTAW) and stress relief/preheat process (PWHT).
- Prepare work pieces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and fitting components as necessary, ensuring proper alignment and tolerance.
- Perform welding tasks according to established procedures and quality standards, ensuring proper penetration, fusion, and structural integrity.
- Inspect welded joints for defects using visual inspection methods and non-destructive testing techniques.
- Conduct post-welding inspections and testing to verify conformance to specifications, including pressure testing for compressor components.
- Make necessary repairs or adjustments to welded joints to meet quality standards and customer requirements.
- Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition, performing routine maintenance and repairs as needed.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures at all times, including proper handling of welding gases, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and following lockout/tagout protocols.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality control teams to resolve technical issues and improve welding processes.
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in welding preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in welding, with a focus on reciprocating compressor components in the oil & gas industry.
- Proficiency in GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, GTAW, PWHT and other welding processes.
- Knowledge of welding codes and standards relevant to the oil & gas industry, such as ASME, API, and AWS.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Strong attention to detail and quality craftsmanship.
