Description
Position Summary
We are looking for a skilled Welder to cut and join metals and other materials at our facility. You will operate appropriate equipment to put together mechanical structures or parts with a great deal of precision. Your job is important as it provides the foundation for a strong infrastructure.
A welder must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment following all safety precautions. The ideal candidate will also have a steady hand and great attention to detail. Knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties is essential.
Major Function and Scope
• Perform welding tasks using various techniques and equipment, such as MIG, TIG, stick, and SMAW.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine welding requirements.
• Operate and maintain welding equipment and tools.
• Inspect welds for accuracy, quality, and adherence to specifications.
• Fabricate and assemble metal structures or components using welding techniques.
• Use forklift to move materials and products as needed.
• Use calipers and other measuring tools to ensure precise measurements.
• Operate plasma cutting equipment to cut metal pieces according to specifications.
• Utilize mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair equipment as necessary.
• Assist with machine tasks as needed.
• Operate press brake machine to bend sheet metal.
Requirements
Knowledge, Experience, and Competencies
• Proven experience as a welder
• Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA etc.)
• Experience in welding pressurized pipes.
• Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)
• Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes and procedures
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
• Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)
• Deftness and attention to detail
• Minimum of one (1) experience in welding
• Professional Certification (e.g. an AWS welding certificate) will be a plus.
• Mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting and repair tasks is preferred.
• Experience with machining is a plus.
• Ability to operate a forklift safely and efficiently.
• Ability to work within a team-oriented environment.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is occasionally exposed to wet, warm, humid, and cold temperatures.

- The employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds. Employees must be able to wear respirators for extended periods of time.
