Job Description
Designs, fabricates, joins, and/or repairs equipment, fixtures and various types of metal objects and
structures using oxygen-acetylene, electric arc, MIG and TIG welding techniques.
Operates drill presses, power saws, grinders, metal lathes and a variety of welding equipment and hand
tools.
Analyzes plans, drawings, work samples, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements
and sequence of welding assignments.
Examine weld for bead size and other specifications.
Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety
regulations.
Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines and/or tools as required per the P.M. charts.
May operator other equipment, including but not limited to forklifts and other material handling devices.
Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision.
Assists other employees as needed

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Standard English text and technical reading, writing, and speaking skills
Basic math skills
Ability to use basic hand held measuring devices
Knowledge of welding techniques, (oxygen-acetylene, electric arc, and TIG), tools and equipment.
