Job Description
Welder/Fabricator - Clinton Township, MI. This is a direct placement opportunity.
Shift: Monday through Friday 6:00am to 2:30pm (8 hour) or 6:00am to 4:00pm (10 Hour). Overtime on Saturdays 6:00am to 12:00pm or 6:00am to 2:30pm.
Pay Range: $24.00 to $26.00 (based upon experience).
Basic Function
Use hand-welding equipment (Spot welder, Mig and Tig welder) to weld or join metal components to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products.
Responsibilities
- Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Clamps, holds, tack-weld, heat-bend, grinds or bolts components parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
- Operates manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, and flux-cored arc, plasma arc, and shielded metal arc, resistance welding, and submerged arc welding.
- Monitors the fitting, burning and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts of warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials.
- Examines work pieces for defects and measures work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Recognizes, set up, and operates hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
- Will Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
Skills & Qualifications
v Spot/Mig/Tig Welding Experience
v Fabrication Experience
v Must possess the ability to operate cranes, tape measures and calipers, hand tools and torch.
v Must be able to read and understand specifications, job orders, Bill of Materials, and work instructions.
v Ability to communicate quality non-conformance verbally and effectively present information to supervisor, co-workers and management.
v Ability to work in a Team environment.
Education
High School Diploma or GED required. Vocational Education
