The VMC Group considers Welders who can:
Reviews work orders
- Verifies sales order number to jobs
- Review drawings for welding specifications
Sets up and operate Welding Machine
- Set up heat and wire speed on welding machine
- Weld parts
- Check first piece inspection and run production
- Grind and remove all splatter from welded areas.
- Sign off on operations
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings
- Basic math knowledge which includes the use of measuring tools
- Familiar with operating the welding machine and cutting torch
Competencies
- Ability to work in an environment that produces excellent quality and quantity work
- Ability to organize and prioritize jobs
- Ability to communicate – verbally and written
Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Able to stand for long periods of time
- Able to lift, push, and pull 25 pounds unassisted.
- Typical machine shop environment.
- Willing to be cross-trained on different machines
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Shop experience in fabricating and welding
- Familiarity with welding machine and cutting torch, operating the forklift and overhead crane
- Able to work additional hours as needed to ensure responsibilities are met.
