About the Role
The Weekend Receptionist / Studio Assistant is a key role in establishing a relationship with our studio customers and visitors during the busiest days of the week. This person welcomes students and parents into our studio and sets the tone for their experience. The successful candidate must love interacting with customers (both young and old) explaining our program and classes, and enjoy selling products and delivering strong customer service. Person will also be required to assist teachers in some classes sometimes, so any childcare or early childhood credentials are a major plus! We are looking for an energetic team player with a positive attitude to help the studio run as efficiently and effectively as possible. You must be available to work the days and hours required for this role. Please do not apply if you cannot work the hours we require for both Saturdays and Sundays.
Work Hours: 9am – 2pm Saturdays, and 9am-2pm Sundays (10-hour work week);
Duties & Responsibilities
Customer Service/Sales:
- Welcome and greet all visitors; answer telephone promptly and courteously
- Check students into classes through our software system
- Assist families and parents by guiding them through our programs and answering their questions (or find the answers to questions if not known)
- Be knowledgeable about our class programs and pricing (including merchandise retail) and actively promote and sell to all visitors
- Ensure all families / students complete all mandatory paperwork/forms
- Sells studio merchandise and/or classes to customers by processing credit/debit card sales activity
Studio Operations:
- Keep common areas neat and clean at all times
- Responsible for independently opening and closing the studio for both days
- In the morning as part of studio opening duty, prepare studio lounge area, Clean and prep studio rooms, empty trash and tidy props between classes efficiently and quickly.
- In the evening, as part of studio closing duty, clean up the studio and bath and disinfect desks and chairs at the end of each day
- Work with studio management to support operational needs of the studio
- Report any issues per our procedures
- Keep the retail area looking great which includes keeping it clean and arranging merchandising products to attract customers’ attention. Receive and transfer merchandise as appropriate. Pro-actively watch for theft to avoid inventory shrinkage.
- Assist teachers in classes as needed
- Any other tasks required to help company meet its goals
Skill Set
- Highly energetic, positive and enthusiastic team player
- Ability to multi-task and function in a fast-paced environment, often with changing priorities given
- Passion for the products we sell (i.e. Chinese language flash cards, books, art, dance wear, etc.) and ability to understand and clearly communicate the different products/class programs we offer
- Must be customer focused and deliver company’s high level of customer service at all times in a professional, courteous, sensitive and friendly manner
- Ability to stay calm at all times and act respectfully and professionally, even with customers who may become angry or raise their voices
- Dependable, accountable and responsible with excellent attendance and punctuality
- Proactive problem solver; detail-oriented
- Comfortable working in a sales-driven environment frequently by children and parents
- Flexible schedule
- Comfortable with computers and effective at learning and using the necessary software products (i.e. email, Google documents, spreadsheets, Square POS system, etc.)
- Ability to speak some Mandarin Chinese is highly desirable though not required for this position
Supervision:
This position does not supervise any direct reports.
Remuneration:
Competitive hourly salary provided for the right candidate.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.50 - $19.00 per hour
