Job Description:
Overview
The CAD Technician works with the Engineering Services department to produce drawings, layouts, and site plans of engineering designs using computer-aided design software such as Microstation.
Job Duties
- Use project specifications, detailed drawings, and verbal instructions to complete assignments
- Operate Microstation and AutoCAD to create, evaluate, and ensure that designs are created according to specifications Use Geopak, Civil 3D, and other similar software for conducting benchmark studies, evaluating quality, and performing take-offsReview maps and drawings to ensure that field and technical data is recorded and taken into account
- Maintain an organized work area, filing system, E-mail inbox, and action list ensuring that goals and activities are completed on time
- Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Other unlisted duties will be assigned
Requirements
- Must have at least three (3) years of experience in highway design within the last five (5) years
- Demonstrated proficiency in evaluating highly detailed design work
- High level of proficiency using Microstation, Geopak, Inroad, Terramodel, and similar software
- High level of proficiency operating MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Access and MS PowerPoint,
- Understand and communicate TxDOT specifications
- Communicate effectively in English via verbal and written communications
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Apply concepts of algebra and geometry
- Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature in an office environment
- Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers
