The Web Services intern works within TxDOT's Creative Services section to support the ongoing updating and maintenance of TxDOT.gov and other digital properties. This position will work cross-functionally with other teams, such as Operations, Design, and Information Technology, to bring updates to fruition. The Web Services intern will also work with our internal clients and external vendors to complete projects and build relationships across the agency. Additionally, this internship provides valuable experience working with Adobe Experience Manager and a suite of other Adobe products.
Please note that while technical skills are appreciated, a willingness to learn and an interest in websites and Digital management is most valuable.
Essential Duties:
- Update and edit content for pages on TxDOT.gov within content management system (CMS)
- Respond to and fulfill requests via ticketing system
- Assist in migration of content and assets into CMS
- Upload and maintain assets to digital asset management system (DAM)
- Coordinate with external vendors and internal clients
- Pitch improvements for the site and components
- Generate insights from analytics and SEO reports
- Assist in troubleshooting issues on internal and external sites
- Write clean and efficient code using languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript and HTL
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on project tasks
- Work with quality assurance experts to perform validations on updates
- Compiling and presenting UX/UI research
- Contribute to requirement and content gathering efforts
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Must be currently enrolled at an undergraduate institution or graduate school. All majors accepted.
Other Conditions:
- Must be at least 16 years of age, a student currently enrolled in high school or any institution of higher education to include
a trade/vocational school.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preference for communications, web development, interaction design, and Digital media
Competencies:
- An eagerness to learn from experts across different fields in the web development space
- Excellent organizational, and time management skills
- Experience or interest in learning coding in HTML, CSS, JavaScript
- Established skills in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Some experience with analytics or data reporting
- Experience working with content management systems
- Demonstrated the ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- An interest in promoting safety for Texans
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs
