This position requires the ability to work in the Salem, MA office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides comprehensive financial planning advice to both banking and non-banking clients in such a way as to provide unbiased financial recommendations to all types of clients. Should be perceived as a knowledgeable and trusted advisor on matters relating to investment planning, retirement planning, education funding planning, and estate planning.  Should be able to provide clients a detailed analysis of their needs as well as a strategy to implement this plan.
  • Develops new business and additions to existing accounts to meet annual financial Works in collaboration with Commercial Lenders, Retail Market Managers, Wealth Management Officers, and other organization contacts. Develops new business by contacting centers of influence (COI’s), prospects, and clients.
  • Responsible for overall management of the client relationship for accounts developed or Coordinates client communications and works closely with Department employees on administrative, operational, investment, and insurance issues to ensure the quality of the client experience.
  • Fosters goodwill to other departments of the organization by providing guidance and resources on financial planning, investment, and insurance Provides financial and investment expertise to help educate Bank staff, Department employees, clients, and centers of influence.
  • Responds promptly to internal and external referrals, attends organization functions, and works closely with other areas of the Bank and Wealth Management. Seeks speaking or writing opportunities and attends networking functions such as Chamber breakfasts and social events,
  • Works in conjunction with the broker/dealer firm LPL Financial, and is responsible for maintaining a high degree of professional and ethical behavior. Financial recommendations to clients should be performed in a manner so as to be in compliance with all state, federal, SEC, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Administers Wealth Management custody accounts (agency investment management, IRA, endowment) in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations, including without limitation Department and Board charter and directives, FDIC standards, the Prudent Investor Act, and the Uniform Principal and Income Act.
  • Provides a level of service that deepens relationships with existing clients and cultivates referrals from business partners and centers of influence.
  • Must have outstanding communication skills, the ability to understand complex financial analysis/data, and communicate these issues (in "lay man's" terms) to all types of clients effectively.
  • Acquires new clients which must be done in such a way as to only embellish the Salem Five Bank relationship that might exist already or to only complement the other services available at Salem Five.
  • Compliance with banking laws and regulations as defined in company policies and procedures pertinent to position.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and/or 8 to 10 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Registration with the FINRA, SEC and State Life, Accident, and Health Insurance (of Mass.) licenses including Series 7, 66 (or 63, 65) are optional.  CFP Preferred.  Valid Driver’s License.
