Summary
Direct and participate in the operation and maintenance activities of the water well field. Monitors and controls the operation of the water well field. Provides leadership for Water Well Production Technicians on an assigned shift.
Essential Functions

• Direct daily maintenance and operations activities of the Water Well Production Technicians;
• Insure availability of all water wells in the well field;
• Determine and apply chemical dosing requirements to properly disinfect water prior to distribution;
• Assign work and participate in water well maintenance activities;
• Complete and maintain control logs, reports, and records;
• Operate heavy equipment and machinery to maintain well field unpaved roadways;
• Coordinate maintenance activities with mechanical and electrical staff;
• Communicate with senior management and various property owners in the well field;
• Shop work including welding, pipe fabrication, pump maintenance, and general clean-up activities;
• Perform other assigned duties as required.

Qualifications
Completion of high school or its equivalent with an additional three years experience in water treatment, wastewater treatment, or water distribution, including one year experience in operation of SCADA control system; or any combination of relevant experience which provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:
Texas Class B CDL Operator's License
Class C Ground Water license issued by Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), with ability to obtain Class B Ground Water license within 3 years.
Pump Installers license issued by Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) or ability to obtain within two years from date of hire.

Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:

• Principles and methods of water treatment and water well field operations
• Industrial safety and sanitary requirements of potable water supply systems;
• OSHA and in-house safety manual
• Water well maintenance
• Regulatory compliance according to guidelines established by TCEQ

Ability/Skill to:

• Operate heavy equipment skillfully and safely.
• Determine daily Water Production requirements.
• Pull submersible pumps from water wells as needed for repair or replacement.
• Operate various power tools.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Monitor and control treatment plant equipment.
• Prepare reports and interpret written instructions.
• Work cooperatively with others.
• Operate a computer keyboard.
• Perform duties in noisy working conditions.
• Properly use self-contained breathing apparatus.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds
• Occasionally lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
• Frequently flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially flex at the knees.
• Occasionally rotate upper trunk to the right or left while sitting or standing.
• Coordinate eye, hand, and foot movement to operate a vehicle.
• Place arms above, at, or below shoulder height.
• Frequently walk and stand during the shift.
• Occasionally climb ladders and frequently climb stairs.
