Form of workThe Water Plant Operator is responsible for the packaging of bottles water and cleaning water containers. Assist in overall Water Plant operations and maintenance including cleaning tanks while adhering to UIC Policies and Procedures.
- Clean water bottles and tanks.
- Enter and maintain data.
- Clean and maintain cleanliness of surrounding work area.
- Package distilled water.
- Assist in the distribution/delivery of purified water bottles.
- Change lights and perform Water Plant clean-up.
- Work with the purified water operations as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned which includes climbing on ladders, catwalks in adverse weather conditions, and extreme cold and dark areas.
- Take appropriate action in emergency situations such as fire, power outages, freeze-up potential, or injuries to personnel, etc.
- Have working knowledge of stand-by generators and boilers.
- Be familiar with and adhere to all applicable corporation policies.
Required Skills:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Computer/data entry skills.
- Water and/or wastewater certificate.
- Knowledgeable about pumps, motors, and heaters.
- Possess a Class B CDL.
- Must be capable and dependable.
- Must be willing to have a flexible work week.
- Physically be able to lift up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to communicate in verbal and written form.
- Ability to understand and interpret basic monitoring and testing systems.
- Must be willing to take additional training as required.
- Ability to understand and know all safety policies and rules.
- Ability to utilize all safety equipment, i.e., ear protection, eye protection, respirators, and other safety devices.
- Previous water treatment experience preferred.
