Reporting to the Lead Waste Processing Tech and Supervisor, the Waste Processing Technician is an entry-level position which involves shipping and receiving and use of a forklift at our Covanta CES Sumter site.
Responsibilities:
- Processing waste
- Moving freight
- Operate various forms of equipment i.e., forklifts, vertical balers, horizontal balers, pallet jacks, shredders, compactors, etc.
- Perform inventories on supplies
- Handle shipping paperwork for the various waste vendors
- Load/Unload van trailers and/or flatbed trucks
Qualifications/Skills
- High School Diploma or GED preferred; Covanta offers GED Works - a fully funded program for employees to achieve their GED.
- 1+ years of waste industry experience preferred
- Must be able to walk/stand for extended periods of time
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Forklift experience and ability to become forklift certified through internal coaching
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Demonstrated attention to detail and time management skills
Shifts: 12 hour shift work - 3 days on, 2 days off, then 2 days on, 3 days off then same schedule for night rotation.
