Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Warehouse/Yard Associate in Richmond, Virginia. The Warehouse/Yard Associate is responsible for loading, unloading, receiving/releasing customer equipment, maintaining the equipment yard for easy access directing the delivery of new equipment, maintaining the Warehouse/Shop and sorting parts. Seeking candidates with forklift, pallet jack experience, preferred. High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
Requirements for the Warehouse/Yard Associate position include:
- Self-starter able to work with limited supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong mechanical aptitude; must be able to learn and apply knowledge of parts, components and equipment.
- Capable of safely operating all material handling equipment, including pallet jacks, forklifts, and other similar material handling equipment.
- Must be self-directed, organized and be able to interact with coworkers.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with ability to prioritize tasks with competing demands.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Must be able to work additional hours to meet business and customer needs.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Physical requirements must be met for the Warehouse/Yard Associate job, including regularly being required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
