Job Title: Warehouse/Shipping Manager

Reports to: General Manager

Job Description

Responsible for the logistics of both warehouses located within walking distance of one another. As well as direct oversight of 30+ hourly associates on both shifts and the front line managers that manager a two shift facility.

Duties and responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for warehouses, ability to be a change agent and adopt change and development
• Build, communicate, and affect vision for growth and improvement
• Promote and drive safety daily in the workplace, crafting a safe work environment for associates
• Increase and maintain high levels of associate engagement throughout the operation
• Provide consistent communication to associates and counterparts and company
• Drive high levels of quality in customer shipments, inventory integrity within the building
• Maintain and develop a productive warehouse by hiring, training, and providing professional development for all associates
• Lead and oversee associates performing activities including unloading and stocking of inbound shipments, order picking and staging, and shipping of outbound orders
• Ensure high levels of cleanliness are maintained in our sites
Evaluating the current shipping and warehousing processes and controls

Qualifications

• Ability to effectively communicate.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
• Strong reading, writing and problem solving skills.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English
• Must have prior warehouse experience.
• 10+ years' experience in distribution management leading employees in a complex distribution/warehouse environment
• Must have leadership experience in managing and developing a team, mentoring, coaching, training, and performance management
• Ability to work with people and build an environment that is positive and engaging for the associates
• Phenomenal interactive communication skills with ability to effectively communicate to different levels of the organization
• Previous experience working in a WMS environment is required
• Strong computer skills to include expertise in Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook

Working conditions

The work environment includes congested and high traffic areas, slippery floors, working alongside forklifts, single pallet jacks, electric walk behind jacks and hand carts. Walking and working is done on concrete flooring. Some duties are performed in the warehouse and will require work to be done in varying climates. Temperatures range from zero in the coolers to 95 degrees Fahrenheit or above outdoors. The shift end-time fluctuates with the employer's daily needs.

• Able to operate warehouse power equipment.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to work in very cold environment for extended periods of time.
