JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective
This position works within the warehouse and is a driver two days a week.

Essential Functions

Warehouse:
Handles shipping and receiving unloading trucks, checks in merchandise match purchase orders to sales orders and distributes to sales associates for processing.

• Wait on customers at the pick-up area and read customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, distributed, and/or shipped.
• Move materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas.
• Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
• Ensure the warehouse is accessible and safe for salespeople and customer traffic.
• Prepare parcels for UPS.
• Always organize warehouse and work area for orderliness.
• Wear the proper safety equipment.

Driver Duties

• Responsibilities include checking out the load and assembling the bill according to the trip order, noting any discrepancies in orders, and keeping the required records, reports, counts, and trip logs.
• Must have a current and valid relevant state commercial driver’s license.
• Must have the knowledge and conduct maintenance of single and multi-rear axle trucks meeting the requirements for MA, CT, NY, and NH state Commercial Driver’s Licensing (including general knowledge of laws, regulations, and operation of the stated vehicle);
• Perform pre-trip inspections (correctly complete driver’s log book) of his/her vehicle and be able to explain what one inspects and why;
• maneuver and control the vehicle in a safe fashion, which includes handling the vehicle on-site and in over-the-road situations, proper signaling, searching for hazards, controlling speed, lane positioning, matching speeds to road conditions (wet, dry, snow, or ice), and the ability to drive during the daytime or nighttime;

Work Environment
This position works in a warehouse setting, with some outdoor exposure during the workday. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets and standard warehouse equipment such as hand trucks, box cutters, and tape dispensers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Hours may fluctuate as needed.

Travel
Local travel is expected for this position. Driving locations Albany, Western MA, and Orange County.

Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED, or equivalent years of experience.

Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record

Excellent Customer Service Skills

Operating a Forklift in a shipping/receiving Environment

Must be dependable, reliable, and mature enough to handle equipment safely and sensibly

Possess both written and verbal English language skills

Preferred Education and Experience

Class B preferred - CDL
One year of prior warehouse clerk and driving experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
