The Warehouse Lead/Trainer is responsible for facilitating the onboarding and training of new warehouse employees to ensure they acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for their roles. This role is pivotal in maintaining high standards of productivity, accuracy, and safety within the warehouse.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct orientation sessions to familiarize new hires with warehouse policies, safety procedures, and job expectations.
- Provide hands-on training for various warehouse tasks, including order picking, loading, pallet picks, putaways, receiving, and MHE Equipment.
- Assist in the creation of training materials, manuals, and documentation to support training initiatives.
- Make record of employee training progress, ensuring all required certifications and qualifications are met.
- Serve as a mentor to new hires, offering guidance, feedback, and ongoing support as they adapt to their roles.
- Check condition of pallets where necessary
- Promptly report damage and all inventory discrepancies to supervisor
- Ensure pallets are wrapped and stacked for safe transport to storage
- Using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) data to ensure efficient and proper inventory control, to troubleshoot issues.
- Identify areas where employees may require additional training and provide targeted coaching to address performance gaps.
- Promote a culture of safety within the warehouse by ensuring all new hires are well-versed in safety protocols and guidelines.
- Collaborate with management to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency within the warehouse.
- Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and training techniques to enhance the training program.
- Work closely with the Warehouse Supervisor and management to ensure seamless integration of new hires into the warehouse team.
- Lead by example, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a warehouse environment, with a strong understanding of warehouse operations.
Skills & Requirements:
- Proven track record of leadership and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to effectively convey information and engage learners of various backgrounds and skill levels.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with warehouse management systems and training software is a plus.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
- Ability to take directions using the headset selection system (such as VoCollect)
- Ability to accommodate flexible schedules to meet the needs of the customer to include nights, weekends and holidays
Physical Demands:
- A combination of standing and walking
- Includes frequently reaching with hands and arms, and using hands to finger, handle, and feel
- Includes some crawling, Kneeling, crouching, turning, climbing and balancing
- Includes frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds, and regularly hand lifting and/ or moving up to 100 pounds
- Requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and depth perception acuities
