Job Title: Warehouse Technician
Job Summary:
The Warehouse Technician is responsible for the efficient and organized handling of goods within a warehouse environment. This role involves receiving, storing, and distributing materials, parts, products, and equipment while maintaining accurate records of inventory. The Warehouse Technician will work collaboratively with other team members to ensure the smooth operations of the warehouse and the timely fulfillment of orders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Receiving and Inspection:
- Receive incoming shipments, verifying contents' accuracy against packing lists or invoices.
- Inspect received goods for quality and condition, reporting any discrepancies or damages to the supervisor.
- Label, record, and organize received items for storage.
2. Storage and Inventory Management:
- Allocate and organize storage spaces efficiently, ensuring optimal utilization of available space.
- Keep track of inventory levels and update inventory management systems or spreadsheets.
- Rotate stock as needed to ensure the proper use of older inventory before newer items.
3. Order Fulfillment:
- Retrieve items from storage to fulfill orders manually or using warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.).
- Accurately pick and pack items according to order specifications.
- Prepare orders for shipment by packaging items securely and labeling them properly.
4. Shipping and Documentation:
- Generate shipping labels, packing lists, and other necessary documentation for outbound shipments.
- Arrange transportation for outgoing orders, coordinating with shipping carriers and logistics personnel.
- Ensure shipments are loaded onto delivery vehicles safely and efficiently.
5. Maintenance and Safety:
- Maintain a clean and organized warehouse space, adhering to safety and cleanliness standards.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on warehouse equipment and report any issues to the maintenance team.
- Follow proper procedures for handling hazardous materials, if applicable.
6. Record Keeping:
- Keep accurate records of incoming and outgoing shipments, inventory levels, and discrepancies.
- Update computerized inventory systems and databases as needed.
7. Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with other warehouse team members to ensure seamless operations.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and other departments to resolve any issues or concerns.
8. Problem Solving:
- Identify and resolve inventory discrepancies, shipping errors, and other operational challenges.
- Report any issues that may impact warehouse efficiency or product quality.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational or technical training is a plus.
- Prior experience in a warehouse or logistics environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with inventory management software and basic computer skills.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording inventory data.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Physical stamina to lift and move heavy items, stand for extended periods, and work in varying temperature conditions.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Adherence to safety guidelines and protocols.
