Job description

Summary Supervisor is responsible for the direct oversight of the operation, process and personnel within the warehouse including kitting, pulling, packing and shipping. The Supervisor is expected to lead his or her respective area(s) by assisting those in the group in any manner necessary including providing direction to employees regarding processes, procedures and policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • The Warehouse Supervisor is expected to work closely with other Supervisors and the Warehouse Manager to continually improve the productivity, quality and overall customer satisfaction of the warehouse. Responsible for building a specific culture that is based on respect, hard work and overall continuous improvement of process and personnel.
  • Provide guidance and resolution on daily issues that arise with regard to processes within the warehouse. Track productivity and quality numbers for employees in their group and provide feedback to employees. Assure all necessary work is being completed daily so that productivity and quality of the entire group is maintained. Complete and maintain all relevant warehouse reports to make sure they are current and resolve outstanding issues.
  • Serve as the point person/contact person for the Warehouse Manager when questions arise regarding particular functions or process improvements need to be implemented. Maintain and evaluate staffing levels to ensure manpower is in line with goals that need to be attained.
  • Schedules work for special and periodic inventories.
  • Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow; issues written and oral instructions. Work hours that correspond to the hours of the group that is being supervised. Perform daily functions (kitting, pulling, packing, etc) when necessary to make sure all goals are met.
  • Participate in warehouse meetings with other supervisors and warehouse manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises employees in the Warehouse.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Commit to the goal to improve and impact daily operations of the warehouse in a positive manner by demonstrating professionalism and accountability.
  • Responsible for implementing a culture of success and to work closely with Warehouse Manager to see that the culture grows and succeeds.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills
